First Blog Entry, Last Day Of the Year!

First blog entry, Last day of the Year! Why not!? I am going out in about fifteen minutes to drive my carriage in downtown Memphis on New Year's Eve. I have thought about doing this blog for a while as I think it will be rather interesting. I find that the most compelling things I get my hands on to read these days are about the truth of someone's life. I started to read Slapstick by Kurt Vonnegut and was fascinated by the first ten pages about his family's life and their German background. So, this blog will reflect the actual life on the carriage, which really is a unique job if ever there was one, as well as the lovely musings of my brain, or, more succinctly, the truth of my life.
My friend CM, also a carriage driver, and I went to Walmart today, on New Year's Eve Day, in a last minute attempt to secure for ourselves some semblance of warmth tonight. We found boots that the Canadian Council on Freezing Your Toosh Off declared warm in weather at -40 degrees. While it gets cold here in Memphis, it doesn't get that cold. So, I think we should be good. Other than that, I have everything I could need to stay warm and can't wait to try out my boots. Four pair left, by the way, two of which fit both of us! This is my fifth New Year's on the carriage, my first sober. I celebrated one year of sobriety on December 26, 2008. Yeah, me!
Well, it is getting to be time. I am thinking there will be somewhere in the neighborhood of, well, I guess I am not sure, 50,000 people? 10,000? A lot. I will let you know.
I hope you have enjoyed my first installment of Horses in the City. Yeah, I write about horses, but I really write about relationships.

HAPPY NEW YEAR _ 2009!!!!!!
